Tuesday 20.09.2022, Öztal Alps


08:00 pick up packed lunch at Gurgl Carat - (covered by EarthShape/registration)

08:15-15:00 (or 18:00)

All day excursion/hike in the Öztaler Alps starting from Gurgl Carat in Obergurgl through the Zirbenwald, past the Schönwieshütte and two thirds along the way towards the Langtaleckhütte asceding ca. 500m up to 2300m (earlier return possible). Our destination is a rock glacier (2 h hike away excl. stops). The Schönwieshütte is closed but Langtaleckhütte is open (cash only!) Return along the same route.

Short info along the way by Thomas Sholten (soils), Maike Baader (vegetation), Todd Ehlers (tectonics), Christoph Glotzbach (rocks), Dirk Scherler (glaciers, moraines)

19:00 Optional: Buffet Dinner, group-organised self-paid at the University Centre Obergurgl.
